Wood Stove Permits

All wood stoves must have a building permit.

Apply for a Wood Stove Permit

When you apply for the permit, you should submit a copy of the manufacturer's installation instructions. These must show required clearances to combustible materials. Installation must be in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Also, the wood stove must be labeled either by Underwriters' Laboratory (U.L.) or another accredited laboratory.

Comments, questions, or concerns related to wood stoves should be directed to the City Development Services Office at 978-674-4144, where every attempt to return your call in a timely manner will be made as appropriate - please note, however, that due to the volume of calls received, there may be delays in responding.
