City Mayor Accomplishments
During Fiscal Year 2014
- Called regularly scheduled monthly Special Meetings to improve oversight of the City Auditor, Clerk and Manager, and allow for more substantive discussion about long-term planning, projects and policy initiatives.
- Facilitated joint meetings with the School Committee and administration to increase intergovernmental communication and collaboration.
- Maintained active Twitter and Facebook accounts for Mayor’s office.
- Attended several community events to connect directly with residents.
Established a Task Force on Downtown Economic Development to identify ideas and offer solutions to generate short-term goals and a long-term strategic plan to spur business development in downtown Lowell.
Collaborated with The City of Lawrence for a dual POW/MIA Chair of Honor dedication.
Attended new business openings and introduced the businesses at City Council meetings.
Initiated student internship program in the Mayor's office. Two women and two men from Middlesex Community College and UMass Lowell.
