Zoning Board of Appeals
The Lowell Zoning Board of Appeals was created under MGL Ch. 40A, Sec. 12 and carries out duties pursuant to MGL Ch. 40A, Sec. 14. The Zoning Board of Appeals hears applications for Variances from the Lowell Zoning Code (Ordinance), Special Permit requests where the Zoning Code designates the ZBA as the Special Permit Granting Authority and appeals of decisions by the Building Commissioner. All requests are subject to the structure enumerated in MGL Ch. 40A.

MEETINGS
Board meetings are typically held on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Monday of the month at 6:30pm in the City Council Chambers located on the second floor of Lowell City Hall, 375 Merrimack Street. Notice of meetings are posted at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of the meeting on the bulletin board outside of the City Clerk's Office and on the City of Lowell's online Event Calendar.
The Zoning Board of Appeals maintains an office with the Division of Development Services on the second floor of City Hall, in Room #51 and #55.
DEVELOPMENT PROJECT INFORMATION
