Welcome!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. I believe you will soon find what downtown residents and retailers alike have long known - that Lowell has a vibrant downtown overflowing with intriguing people, places, and attractions!

While Lowell is known as being the first industrial city in the country, today it is a crossroads of commerce and creativity. From first-class office facilities such as Wannalancit Mills and Boott Mills to a revived retail and restaurant core in Downtown, Lowell has much to offer. The downtown core is brimming with energy these days as an Arts District has mobilized, with the creation of hundreds of artist live/work spaces and the relocation of The Revolving Museum from Boston to Downtown Lowell.

The Revolving Museum has become the anchor to this Arts District, both of which have helped spur an increase in the popularity of Downtown residential projects. A number of residential projects have been completed and fully sold, while others are currently under construction. The Revolving Museum is also part of a network of museums including the American Textile History Museum that have become a circuit within themselves.

The Downtown Venture Fund, a low-interest loan program administered by the City and local financial institutions, has invested over $2 million in the opening or expansion of over 20 new Downtown businesses over the past five years. The Downtown Venture Fund is geared towards retail, restaurants, and arts and entertainment businesses and has been a tremendous success to date.

These businesses have flourished with the constant activity that visitors find in Downtown Lowell. Whether it is the largest free folk festival in the country in the Lowell Folk Festival, or it is the season full of sold-out Lowell Spinners baseball games, retailers and restaurateurs have found that Downtown Lowell is a place they need to be. With the Paul Tsongas Arena hosting concerts and professional hockey, and the Lowell Memorial Auditorium having a full schedule of theatrical and entertainment performances, Lowell has options for all tastes.

We invite you to come see what Downtown Lowell has to offer your business.
