Pavement Condition Index

The City has had an inventory done of all streets to determine a pavement condition index (PCI). We use this index to determine each year's paving list.

MassDOT Project Listing

MassDOT project to repave Rt 113
-
Rt. 113, from the MA/COM bldg. to the Tyngsboro bridge will be repaved by MassDOT. The project will be bid in the fall of 2011 with the work being done in 2012.

Street Paving Moratorium List

As each street is paved, it falls into a moratorium category. Requests for non-emergency work are denied for 5 years after a street is paved. Emergency conditions are defined by the DPW Commissioner.

2011 List of Paving Projects

This list is sent to the local utility companies as a heads-up for where the city will be paving this year. If they have any work to do on these streets, they need to get in ahead of us or wait for the 5 year moratorium to expire.

2011 Paving Funding

MassDOT has announced the Chapter 90 Funding allotments for the upcomig fiscal year. The state increased the amounts this year and Lowell is eligible for $1,861,767. The amounts can be seen at http://www.mhd.state.ma.us/ch90FY.asp
