RE:                   Council Motion of 2/13/07 by Councillor Elliott

“Request the City Manager meet with the representatives of the Lowell Devils and review the terms of their agreement with respect to the marketing of the team and costs of operations.”

 

                        Council Motion of 4/3/07 by Councillor Elliott

“Request the City Manager and the Arena Commission report on the attendance, ticket sales and terms of the contract for the Lowell Devils.”

 

Regarding the above mentioned motions, I have done an extensive review of the City’s fiscal position.  I have determined that there is a lack of funds available to support the agreement with the Lowell Devils and therefore it may result in the team not returning for the second year of the contract.  At this time I feel that any available funds would be better utilized in supporting other municipal areas.
