Motion-7/10/07 Reilly School Conditions

MEMORANDUM

TO:                  Mayor William F. Martin, Jr.

                                    And

Members of the Lowell City Council

FROM:            Bernard F. Lynch, City Manager

DATE:             August 9, 2007

RE:                   Council Motion of 7/10/07 by Councilor R. Elliott

"Request the City Manager investigate the conditions at the Reilly School and report back to the Council with recommendations”.

In regards to the above-mentioned motion, I have been meeting with T.J. McCarthy, Assistant City Manager and Dave Blazon, Land and Buildings Division to evaluate the condition of the Reilly Elementary School.  Many of the issues have been resolved including paint and repair to the restrooms; entry way doors; handicap ramps and ceiling tile replacement.  However, some of the longer range maintenance issues, including the replacement of the roof, exterior windows, and boilers will need to be addressed through the Capital Improvement Plan
