Motion 8-14-07 Butler Ave. Stop Sign

MEMORANDUM

Bernard F. Lynch

City Manager

MEMORANDUM

TO:                  Mayor William F. Martin, Jr.

                        And

Members of the Lowell City Council

FROM:            Bernard F. Lynch, City Manager

DATE:             August 24, 2007

SUBJECT:       MOTION OF 8/14/07 BY COUNCILOR RITA MERCIER

REQUEST THE CITY MANAGER HAVE THE PROPER DEPARTMENT PLACE A STOP SIGN ON PROSPECT STREET AT BUTLER AVENUE

In response to the above-mentioned motion, Jeff Gomes, Transportation Engineer visited the site in question and made the conclusion that the City can comply with the request for a stop sign on Prospect St. at Butler Ave.  The lack of sight distance due to the grading of Prospect Street has been a problem for motorists approaching Butler Avenue

Therefore, a 60-day trial order for a stop sign will be before the Council at their next meeting on August 28, 2007.
