“Request the city manager address the concerns relative to safety at the pollard memorial library”

Security for the patrons and staff of the library and for that matter, all municipal buildings is a top priority for this administration.  Over the course of the past three (3) years, the City of Lowell; through the City Manager’s Office, Lowell Police Department, Law Department and the Library Director in conjunction with the Library’s Board of Trustees has worked to address various security and safety issues at the Library.  The attached report, prepared by Law Department staff, comprehensively details both the extensive measures taken in security upgrades and safety improvements and provides a history of the incidents that have occurred during this time period.

This report should serve to put into perspective and provide context regarding this issue.   Should you have any further comments, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Thank you.
