(formerly Westford's “Pig & Pepper”) Kansas City Barbecue Competition

LOWELL – Our festival is a celebration of beer, music, food and fun. The event features multiple Microbreweries, from Massachusetts to Southern, NH, pouring over 50 beers and ales. Participants to date include: Concorde, Ipswich, Mill City, Smuttynose, Wachusett and Red Hook will be providing over 30 samplers to taste from. The cost of the Microbrew Challenge is $20.00pp and you will receive a complimentary mug, 4oz. samplers and a ballot sheet to vote for your favorite beer/brewery.

The N.E. Barbecue Society is sponsoring two days of barbecue contests as part of the RibN’Brews Festival, featuring over 25 teams of cookers using wood and charcoal fires for their heat source. Expect to see every kind of barbecue equipment imaginable, everything from huge trailer- mounted BBQ pits to kettle grills and water smokers. The overall winners of the contest will receive a Proclamation from the Massachusetts Governor as the State’s best Barbecue Cooker as well as additional invitations to two national competitions, The American Royal Invitational in Kansas City, and the Jack Daniel’s in Lynchburg, TN.

Pouring over 40 types of beer and ales from:
Harpoon, Ipswich Ale, Smutty Nose, "The Tap" - Haverhill - Concord Ale, Red Hook, Wachusett Brewing, Shipyard, Buzzards Bay, and Magic Hat.

Directions to Lucy Larcom Park are as follows:
From Boston and Points South:

Follow I-93 North to Rte. 495 South (Lowell).
Follow South to Exit 36 – Lowell Connector.
Follow the Lowell Connector to Exit 5 – Thorndike Street.
Bear right off Thorndike Street exit. Proceed straight through five sets of traffic lights.
Lowell City Hall is on your left and Lucy Larcom Park is on the right.

From New Hampshire
Proceed South on Rte 3 to the Lowell Connector Exit 5. From this point, follow directions above, or proceed south on I-93 to Route 495 South and follow directions as above.

Parking accommodations are the Joseph Downes Garage or the Ayotte Garage.

Joseph Downes Parking Garage: (also known as John Street Garage)

Follow above directions, after Police Dept. take a right at the set of lights. Follow to next light and parking garage is on the right.

Ayotte Parking Garage:

Follow above directions and pass Police Department, continue straight through light and take a right into the garage.
