Everyone is welcome to join the first “Mayor’s Harvest Ball” taking place on Saturday October 4th at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Admission is $25.00 and all guests will enjoy an evening of ambiance, great entertainment provided by the Continentals as well as catered hors d’oeuvres, dancing and a fabulous silent auction.
The proceeds from the “Mayor’s Harvest Ball” will benefit the important work of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank (MVFB). As food and fuel prices continue to rise, more people across the country are turning to food pantries or soup kitchens for items that have become too costly for them to afford. Food banks in many areas and our region are struggling to keep pace with the demand. The “Mayor’s Harvest Ball” is intended to help those in need within our own community. Your attendance and generous support will assist the Merrimack Valley Food Bank as they are in preparation mode for the upcoming winter and holiday seasons.
Mayor Caulfield says, “This city is very; very rich in ethnic diversity and the individuals, businesses and partners who have come together to make this event happen are rich with such compassion! My mother always said, “If you can’t help those in need; who can you help?””
The Merrimack Valley Food Bank will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year and operates eight emergency feeding programs serving 25 communities. Their programs distribute food through a network of member agencies which assist more than 100 feeding operations. Member agencies consist of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day programs and group homes. The Merrimack Valley Food Bank distributes food to more than 25,000 low-income individuals and families which include expectant mothers, infants, the elderly, working poor as well as the homeless, developmentally disabled, survivors of abuse, veterans and recovering addicts.
For sponsorship opportunities please contact Deb Belanger from the Greater Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau at 978-459-6150 Ext. 15. We will also be asking from all of our guests to bring a (one) bag donation of nonperishable food items to benefit the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. We truly appreciate any support you can provide and look forward to seeing you at what promises to be a wonderful evening at the “Mayor’s Harvest Ball”.
