Human Relations Department Overview
The Human Relations Department is responsible for ensuring that the City has a competent and diverse workforce that meets the City's needs, while coordinating all employee-related issues for the City. To do so, Human Relations is focused on:
Assisting all City departments with the recruitment and selection of new employees for employment.
Conducting compensation reviews to ensure that employees are paid fairly.
Administering all City and School employee benefits, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance programs, and tuition reimbursement.
Maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring that fair labor practices are followed.
Coordinating collective bargaining for unions, and employee relations for union and ordinance personnel in order to ensure that employees are treated fairly and respectfully and that managers and supervisors have the tools and ability to oversee the work and job performance of their staff.
Providing training and development aimed at ensuring that City employees have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform well in their positions.
