Sign your team up for the 2007 National Human Dogsled Race Championship

This event will be taking place over two days during the 2007 Lowell WinterFest in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts on February 9th and February 10th, 2007.

A Human Dogsled team involves a 6-person team pulling a one-person dogsled over a 60-yard straightaway course in head-to-head, single elimination competition (losing team tries again next year!).

Each team consists of:

  • (4) persons pulling the sled
  • (1) person riding on the sled
  • (1) "musher" to ride on the back of the sled

* The sled and harness is provided.

The 2007 National Human Dogsled Race Championship will be limited to 32 teams on a first come basis. The races will take place over the two days of Lowell WinterFest. This year the bracket will be double elimination format (each team races until they loose twice).

Friday, February 9th at 6:00 p.m.[Team check-in 30 minutes prior to start time]

  • CHALLENGER ROUND - if your team has challenged another team - this is smash-mouth grudge time!!!

Saturday, February 10th at 3:00 p.m.[Team check-in 30 minutes prior to start time]

  • CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND -  Qualifying teams return from friday night to run the Frozen Tundra (well, snow packed street) in head-to-head racing until a NATIONAL CHAMPION TEAM is crowned.


BEST COSTUME PRIZES

Due to popular demand, Best Costume Prizes will again be awarded. On Friday night, teams will be judged for the most creative costume. Winners will be announced on Saturday when the 2007 National Human Dogsled Race Championship Team is crowned.

Best Costume Prizes:

  • 1st Place - $1000 Gift certificates to downtown restaurants and pubs
  • 2nd Place - $500 Gift certificates to downtown restaurants and pubs
  • 3rd Place - $250 Gift certificates to downtown restaurants and pubs

So, if you know 6 people who.....

  • Have ever desired to be national champions of something
  • Have a few hours to kill on a weekend in February
  • Have the fortitude to brave 50 yards of frozen tundra(well, middle of Arcand Dr.!)
  • Have a grudge to settle against 6 other people - Amicably
