Beginning Tuesday, July 1, 2008, MassHighway will be conducting structural tests on the Aiken St. Bridge (Ouellette Bridge). Throughout the day, there will be sporadic, temporary shutdowns of the bridge while each test is performed. These temporary shutdowns should last approximately 10 minutes each. Testing will begin after 9:00 AM and be completed before afternoon commuter traffic gets heavy. MassHighway forecasts the work will take 3 days to complete, weather permitting.

Police details will be on each end of the bridge to assist motorists and pedestrians. Since the shutdowns will be brief, you can choose to wait until the bridge is open or use the University Ave. or Bridge St. bridges as an alternate route. We appreciate your patience while these important tests are completed.
