Closures and Detour Routes Map

Please be advised that the road closures and detour routes on this map will need to be implemented to do the majority of work associated with the improvements to the intersection of Market/Central/Prescott. Work includes removal of all cobble and granite to be replaced with a binder coat of asphalt and temporary painted crosswalks at ramps for the winter months. Work is being done in 2 phases as noted on each map over 2 weekends. Access to businesses, delivery vehicles, residents, visitors, and customers will be maintained at all times by implementing temporary 2-way operation. Detour routes will be well signed and police details will be present for all shifts of work. Spring 2010 less disruptive intersection work will include details such as new curb, new ADA compliant handicapped ramps, and decorative new crosswalks outlined with granite with a smooth concrete walk surface, final asphalt coat and stop lines and lane markings. This schedule and phasing was developed to cause minimum disruption to traffic for the shortest period of time.

Inspectors will be in the field to answer questions quickly, see that work moves forward and is completed as quickly as possible. Shifts will be extended as needed to meet completion date of Nov. 23 at the intersection. Work on Middle/Palmer/Shattuck will continue until weather prohibits. Final details of all cobble, crosswalk, and ramp work will be completed in the Spring of 2010. Spring work is expected to cause less disruption than the bulk of this year’s work.
