HOPWA Citizens Advisory Committee Members Needed

The City is seeking volunteers for the Citizens Advisory Committee that reviews grant applications and recommends funding allocations to the City Manager for the HOPWA programs.

The City of Lowell is looking for people interested in volunteering to serve on the HOPWA Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) for our Consolidated Plan.  This 5 member committee is responsible for reviewing all grant applications submitted by non-profit organizations requesting funding under the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Program.

These grant funds are distributed annually through a competitive proposal process.  CAC members review written grant applications and meet during the winter months to formulate a recommended plan for awarding grants.  This recommendation is forwarded to the City Manager and forms the basis for the City's annual spending plan for this federal grant.

Because these funds are intended to benefit low and moderate income people as well as minorities, people of color and residents of with low- or moderate-income are particularly encouraged to apply.  All members must be residents of Middlesex County.

If you are interested, please submit a letter of interest and/or resume to Senior Community Development Planner, Allison Lamey (alamey@lowellma.gov or 50 Arcand Drive, Lowell, MA 01852) no later than 4:00 PM on October 20, 2008.  All materials received will be forwarded to the City Manager for his review and appointments.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Allison Lamey 978-446-7200 (x1429) or by email.
