The City of Lowell Announces a Series of Public Vision Sessions Billed as "City building Workshop"

The City of Lowell in partnership with Goody Clancy and Associates is pleased to announce a series of public vision sessions billed as “City Building Workshops” planned for the Downtown/JAM area, Acre, Lower Highlands, and Back Central Neighborhoods.   Following is the schedule and location for each session.

  • Downtown/ JAM Neighborhood:  Thursday, April 23.  6:30 – 8:30
Lowell High School Cafeteria; 50 Father Morrisette Blvd.

  • Acre Neighborhood: Monday, April 27. 6:30 – 8:30 at the Lowell Senior Center
    Lowell Senior Center; 276 Broadway

  • Lower Highlands Neighborhood: Monday, April 29. 6:30 – 8:30
    Lowell Boy’s & Girl’s Club; 657 Middlesex Street

  • Back Central Neighborhood: Thursday, April 30. 6:30 – 8:30
Rogers Middle School Cafeteria; 43 Highland Street

During the “City Building Workshops” the Lowell Division of Planning and Development will be seeking input from the public to assist in creating a vision for each neighborhood’s future.   Specifically, these workshops are designed to help identify opportunities for neighborhood enhancement as the Hamilton Canal District gets underway. General themes covered during the workshops include:

  • Economic/ Business Development
  • Housing
  • Arts, Culture, and Institutions
  • Access
  • Linkages to other neighborhoods and communities

The City expects the initiative will bring together residents, the City, and other neighborhood stakeholders to work collaboratively in order to realize a vision for each neighborhood, not only to benefit from the development of the Hamilton Canal District, but create improved physical, economic, and social linkages between the target neighborhoods as well as the District.  It is expected the outcome of the workshops will provide a roadmap to guide the Hamilton Canal District beyond its significant role as a place-making initiative to become a catalytic force in recombining neighborhoods, and thereby provide a major opportunity to facilitate “city making.”  For more information on regarding the workshops please contact Aaron Clausen at 978-446-7200.
