Early Voting
Under a state law passed in July 2021, early voting will be allowed in all local and state elections through December 15, 2021 and will be held on dates prior to both the Preliminary and final Municipal elections. All registered voters in Massachusetts will be permitted to vote early in any election held prior to December 15, 2021, with no excuse needed.
Applying for an Early Vote by Mail Ballot
Early Vote by Mail ballots must be requested in writing at least 4 business days before Election Day. Applications are available for download here.
Applications can be submitted by mail or in person. If you are not able to print the application, you may request that one be mailed to you or you may write a letter to The Elections & Census Office requesting your ballot. Make sure to include your name, your address, the place you would like the ballot mailed, and your signature.
For more information about early voting, voting by mail, and absentee ballots, please go to the Secretary of State's website or call the Elections & Census Office at (978) 674-4046.
