Newport News Police Officer Katherine "Katie" Thyne's Wake and Funeral will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church at 144 E. Merrimack Street on Friday, January 31, 2020 and Saturday February 1, 2020. The Lowell Police Department is advising drivers and pedestrians to plan ahead and seek alternate routes in the surrounding area of the Immaculate Conception Church on Friday and Saturday.

The East Merrimack Street area will be restricted with on street parking and intermittent traffic flow. There will be no public parking on the following streets:

Kearney Square to High Street
Brown Street
Fayette Street (Stackpole to E. Merrimack St)

On Friday, January 31, 2020, from 2pm to 8pm, traffic flow on E. Merrimack Street will be intermittently impacted during the wake.

On Saturday, Februrary 1, 2020, from 10 am to 2pm, E. Merrimack Street will be intermittently closed. Please expect delays and seek alternate routes during the funeral.

Free parking for the public during the wake and funeral services is available at the following locations:

Davidson Street lot - 90 Davidson St.
Lowell Locks parking garage - 90 Warren St.
Joseph Downes parking garage - 75 John St.
