In accordance with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 115, Section 108, the Veterans Services Department is charged with taking applications for veterans' benefits and for providing financial and medical assistance to qualified, indigent veterans and their dependents.
The department is also responsible for dispensing other state-sponsored benefits and assisting veterans and their dependents or survivors in obtaining federal benefits, and acts as the burial agent for the City, arranging for the proper internment of deceased veterans in accordance with state regulations
