Dog License Expiration
All Lowell Dog Licenses Expire December 31st of each calendar year.
In accordance with MGL c. 140 § 136 all dogs three months old or older are required to be licensed annually (January 1st - December 31st of each year). You may obtain, in person or by mail, a dog license from the City Clerk's Office.
To Renew or Obtain New
To renew a dog license or obtain a license for a new dog, please follow the instructions below:
- Completed owner, dog and veterinarian contact information
- $20 for a dog license, $10 if the dog has been spayed or neutered, $5.00 additional late fee per month from February 1st to June 1st.
- Valid rabies vaccination certificate with veterinarian signature
- Evidence of spaying (female) or neutering (male), if applicable
- Microchip identification number
Payments
The City accepts checks or money orders (no cash) by mail and checks, money orders or cash in person. Checks should be made payable to "City of Lowell."
