Thank you for joining the City of Lowell on its first Walk Audit and helping us make Lowell a pedestrian safe community!
The aim of this activity is to review the walkability of Central Street and identify concerns regarding safety, comfort and access for pedestrians. We will be evaluating these aspects by answering a set of questions that directly reflect how safe, comfortable, connected and accessible the street is.
Venue Details
Date | 24th October 2024 (Thursday) |
Time | 5:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. |
Meeting Location | Intersection of Central Street and Middle Street (in front of TD Bank), Lowell, MA - 01852. If you wish to familiarize yourself with the area, refer to the Walk Audit map below. |
NOTE: Post completion of the walk audit, we will send you a feedback questionnaire to the email on your registration. If you wish to provide visual feedback, don't forget to send pictures of your observations. Pictures you take do not have to be only the negative aspects of the street. It could be of people crossing the road, vehicles yielding for pedestrians, a chit-chat group, a crowded storefront or children playing reflecting the reality of street life.
We understand that it may not be possible for everyone interested in joining us for the walk audit to be available at the same time. We have an alternative that will allow you to participate even if you cannot join us on the 24th. You can take the same walk audit at your own convenience and share your observations with us!
How to successfully carry out a walk audit on your own?
We have made it simple for you! All you need to do is wear comfortable clothes/shoes, grab a cup of coffee and take a walk down Central Street starting from Merrimack Street to Appleton Street and observe!
How to figure out what to observe?
We have prepared questions that will help you understand what to look for. These questions cover three important aspects of a street: Safety & comfort, Connections and Destinations & Activities. Take a look at the Walk Audit map and the questions before your walk!
NOTE: Don't forget to send pictures of your observations. Pictures you take do not have to be only the negative aspects of the street. It could be of people crossing the road, vehicles yielding for pedestrians, a chit-chat group, a crowded storefront or children playing reflecting the reality of street life.
