House Number Assignments

The Engineering Department is responsible for assigning official house numbers for all new buildings, subdivisions, and address changes within the City. Accurate house numbering ensures proper identification for emergency services, mail delivery, and utility services.

Procedure to Obtain a House Number Assignment

  1. Submit a Request

Contact the Engineering Department to request a house number assignment. This can be done in person, by email, or by        phone. Be prepared to provide:

  • A plot plan or site plan showing the location of the structure(s)
  • Legal address or parcel information (e.g., Assessor’s map and lot)
  • Description of the proposed development (e.g., single-family home, multi-unit building, subdivision)

  1. Review by Engineering Staff

The City Engineer will review the request and determine an appropriate house number based on:

  • Existing numbering patterns on the street
  • Distance between structures
  • Access points and driveway locations
  • Issuance of House Number
Once assigned, the official house number will be documented and added to City records. A written confirmation will be provided to the applicant.

  1. Notification

The assigned house number will be shared with relevant City departments (e.g., Assessor’s Office, Fire Department, Building Department) to ensure consistent records and coordination.
