MA Vacant Storefront Program
In spring of 2019, the City of Lowell submitted an application to the Massachusetts Office of Business Development to establish a "Vacant Storefront District" in Downtown Lowell. This program provides state tax credits of up to $10,000 to businesses that occupy eligible storefronts that have been vacant for 12 months or more within a pre-designated geographic area. The Lowell "Vacant Storefront District" was approved by the state late in 2019; therefore, retail/ restaurant tenants occupying vacant storefronts will be eligible for state tax credits.
