Vaccines for uninsured and underinsured

The Lowell Health Department is proud to offer vaccines for adults (ages 19 years and older) who are uninsured or underinsured through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Vaccine Program.

"Underinsured" is defined as a person who has health insurance, but the insurance does not cover any vaccines; a person whose insurance covers only selected vaccines; a person whose insurance does not provide first-dollar coverage for vaccines. First-dollar coverage includes copays, coinsurance and deductibles. Copays, coinsurance or deductibles will not apply for the administration of any ACIP-recommended vaccines.

Individuals under the age of 19 can receive vaccines through the federal Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.

In-home vaccinations

If you are unable to leave your home and need a vaccine that we offer, contact us at 978-674-4308 to make an appointment with a Public Health Nurse.

Additional details

This is a free clinic. If you have health insurance, please bring your cards with you. Your insurance simply helps reimburse the Health Department for doses purchased privately.

If you do not have insurance, your vaccine will still be free. You will never receive a bill for a vaccine received at this clinic.

We may ask for it to help with registration, but you do not need an ID or other documentation to receive a vaccine at this clinic.

Priority for this clinic goes to those who live, work, and study in Lowell.
